Product Photography and Color Accuracy

We make every reasonable effort to accurately photograph and describe each item. However, actual colors may vary from what appears on your screen due to factors including lighting conditions during photography, camera settings, image processing, monitor or mobile device display characteristics, and individual screen calibration. As a result, the color, hue, saturation, and brilliance of gemstones, metals, and other materials may appear slightly different in person than in photographs.

Gemstone Grading

Unless otherwise stated, all gemstones are evaluated and graded while set in their mountings. Any stated gemstone weights, dimensions, and quality grades are approximations determined using the grading standards and nomenclature of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

Because mountings may limit full visibility and measurement, the quality, condition, and weight of mounted gemstones cannot be determined with absolute precision. Accordingly, all descriptions of mounted gemstones should be considered informed professional approximations unless accompanied by an independent laboratory report issued by a recognized gemological laboratory, such as GIA, AGL, or EGL.

Major diamonds are evaluated using pre-graded permanent master color comparison stones and the grading terminology established by the GIA. Colored gemstones are assessed using the GIA Colored Stone Grading System and nomenclature. Where appropriate, major colored gemstones may also be described using the Gem Dialogue color grading framework.

Age, Origin, and Authenticity

Determinations regarding authenticity, age, decorative period, vintage classification, maker attribution, and approximate date (“circa”) are made to the best of our professional judgment. These opinions are based on a combination of factors including materials, manufacturing techniques, craftsmanship, design characteristics, hallmarks, signatures, lapidary methods, historical context, and consultation of relevant reference materials.

Attribution of age, period, and origin is not an exact science. Decorative periods frequently overlap, evolve gradually, and incorporate stylistic influences from earlier or later eras. Accordingly, all such descriptions should be understood as informed expert opinions rather than guarantees or absolute determinations.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, all gemstone grades, historical attributions, and dating information represent our professional opinion and should not be interpreted as independent laboratory certifications or appraisals.

Normal Signs of Wear

Quality Estate Jewelry specializes in previously owned, vintage, antique, and estate jewelry. Unless specifically described as new, each item has had prior ownership and may exhibit normal signs of wear consistent with its age, history, and prior use. Minor surface scratches, light abrasions, patina, polishing marks, slight wear to metal or gemstones, and other age-appropriate characteristics are to be expected and are considered part of the item’s authenticity, history, and character.

Each item is carefully inspected before being offered for sale. Any condition issues that, in our professional judgment, materially affect an item’s appearance, structural integrity, functionality, or value will be disclosed in the product description whenever reasonably possible. By purchasing estate jewelry, you acknowledge and accept that reasonable age-related wear is inherent to previously owned pieces and does not constitute a defect or misrepresentation.
